Trend Forecast: Menswear Autumn/ Winter 2013
A New Take On A Modern Tradition:
The Heritage Trend
Menswear A/W/ 2013
I predict that future trends in men’s suiting will revolve around the classics, and the modern takes on the classics. I predict that designers will take the best elements from the peak eras of men’s suiting and apply them with modern twists. Vintage silhouettes will be enhanced by an overall masculine shape that is defined with broad shoulders, a slim waist and somewhat slim trousers.
I predict Checks and Plaids will be the key source of pattern in Menswear. I predict Heritage looks will range from different kinds of gun club checks, recolored tartans, black & white Prince of Wales checks, etc.
The following designs were used as examples to predict the Trend Forecast of the use of Heritage Checks in Menswear

Oscar de la Renta
Mr. de la Renta's Fall 2011 collection was a treat for celebrities as it featured many potential Red Carpet looks. Although the collection was far from cohesive, the simplicity and elegance featured in the evening wear designs took precedence over all.

The zeitgeist of the past decade has been reflected on the catwalk season after season in many ways. We've seen military-inspired designs, classic pieces with modern twists, and of course the ever popular minimalism trend.
The thing that I loved the most about this collection was that it didn't reflect the zeitgeist at all! It was full of luxury, culture, history and elegance. Mr. de la Renta effortlessly incorporated inspirations from Persia, Morocco and India.
It was reported that some left the show un-happy, however, this collection was new, inspiring, and a breath of fresh air! This collection is full of what fashion truly means.
